Bonus Points

This Aeronca “Sedan” (OB-LBE 255) was one of the earliest planes used by JAARS.  It was first flown to Peru in 1950. The Aeronca four-seater was the best airplane on floats at that time and was just right for landing in jungle rivers to carry Wycliffe translators to their remote locations.

This aircraft remained in Peru until it was discovered by a friend of JAARS.  It was restored to flyable condition and returned to the JAARS Center at Waxhaw.

To help put Bible translation in a time frame - this airplane delivered Doris Anderson to begin development of the Ticuna alphabet in July 1953.  Thirty-three years later, on Easter Sunday, 1986, Anderson and the Ticuna people dedicated the completed Ticuna New Testament.

Another JAARS function (computers and translation software) have greatly reduced the number of years it takes to develop a written language and translate the Bible to it.  More on that later.

Apologies

My apologies for neglecting to communicate with my reader in the blogosphere.  I wish I could blame it on the fact that I had food poisoning (which I did), but that was only for a day or so, thank goodness.  The worst part wast I gave it to myself - bad milk on my cereal.  :-(

Then for a 21st Century excuse, the Internet connection was down over the weekend.  :-(

Anyway, we're back up and running.  They were bemoaning the the temp was below normal in Charlotte today - 54 degrees.  So sad.  But while we were disconnected with the world, Dottyanne and I were able to spend the weekend with her mom, sisters and families. So that was a plus.   :-)
